Guide
A guide to HoneyBook for photo booth businesses
What HoneyBook does well for a booth business, where it falls short, and what to check before you decide to move.

What it does well
What HoneyBook does well
HoneyBook is a client-management system for creative businesses and it is good at the part it was built for. Its client-facing proposals and invoices are polished and brand-forward, which matters when your quote sits next to two others in a couple's inbox. It has a wide network of integrations with the other tools creative businesses use, and a large enough user base that most questions have been asked before. Contracts with e-signature are included from the Starter plan upward, and the 30-day trial does not ask for a card. All of that is read from honeybook.com/pricing on 2026-09-18.
If your booth business is one booth, a handful of weddings a year, and you are already running your photography or planning work through HoneyBook, none of what follows is urgent.
Limits
Where HoneyBook falls short for booth work
Four gaps show up once a booth business gets busy. Each one comes from what HoneyBook publishes about its own product.
Not built for booths
- It is a general CRM for creative businesses. There are promotions aimed at photographers, but no photo booth features are published: no booth as a bookable unit, no date pricing band for a December Saturday, no run sheet for the venue.
- You end up keeping those in custom fields and remembering how you set them up.
- On BoothZen date pricing starts on Starter.
HoneyBook sets the card fee
- Payments run at 2.7% + 10c per card transaction, or 1.5% for ACH transfers, published and checked 2026-09-18.
- On a £450 booking that is over £12 a job, at a rate HoneyBook sets rather than one you agreed with your own provider.
- The sums are worked through on /no-booking-fees.
No attendant app or run sheet
- Neither is published.
- If you send a second person to a job, the address, times, kit list and signed contract reach them as a text message or a PDF, and their questions come back as phone calls.
- On BoothZen the attendant app and run sheets start on Team.
Your booking address is a HoneyBook subdomain
- Higher tiers give a custom subdomain of honeybook.com rather than a domain of your own.
- If your booking link is what you print on flyers, that is a small difference you keep for as long as you stay.
- On BoothZen a booking site on your own domain starts on Pro.
How BoothZen differs
How BoothZen handles the same work
BoothZen is built only for photo booth businesses. A booking is a booth on a date, priced from your own date bands, with extras. The contract is filled in from that booking and signed on the same page the deposit is taken on. The attendant has a login with the run sheet on it, and balance reminders go out on the schedule you set. Deposits go through your own gateway, so we take no percentage of anything. Plans start at £9.99 a month and your first 10 bookings are free, against HoneyBook's $29/month (billed yearly, Starter plan) and no free plan at all (checked 2026-09-18). Not everything above is on the entry plan, though. The attendant app and run sheets start on Team. A booking site on your own domain starts on Pro.
The screenshot is the public booking page a customer sees on a phone, at the first of its five steps: the event date they picked, and the booths you offer at your prices. HoneyBook does some things better: the proposal presentation, the range of integrations, and how much it covers if you run several kinds of creative business through one system.

Switching
Moving your bookings from HoneyBook
- 1
Get the export
HoneyBook has no self-serve export; their team uploads your existing documents for you, which means moving starts with a support request or an afternoon of copying client lists out by hand.
- 2
Import the CSV
Once you have a CSV, our import brings across customers, bookings with dates, packages and prices, deposits paid, balances due and notes, and any contracts you saved as PDFs attach to the matching booking.
Because getting the export takes longer, operators switching from HoneyBook get a 30-day trial instead of 14. The details are on /switch.
